Virtual Reference Network Workshop

June 5, 2018

How will the webinar work?

A few days before the event you will receive an email from the Ottawa Branch with instructions and a link to the webinar.

How much does the webinar cost?

It costs $70, excluding HST, to register for the webinar.

Why is the webinar only being offered to CIG members and Registered Ontario Land Surveyors?

  • An offer like this is one of the benefits of CIG membership.

  • We've had great participation in our past events from Ontario Land Surveyors (some of whom are also CIG members). The Association of Ontario Land Surveyors has always helped spread the word about our events and evaluates our workshops for  continuing professional development hours. This webinar is an opportunity to make our workshop available Ontario-wide.

Is the webinar broadcast after the workshop?

No, the webinar is live.

How can I ask questions?

The webinar will be monitored and you will be able to ask questions and make comments via a chat box. Your questions may appear to the workshop with a slight delay. The presenters will respond to questions at the end of each presentation.

Can I ask questions during the break times in the agenda?

You can submit questions using chat, but they may not be addressed until the next break.

What will I see on my computer?

You will see the presentation screen as well as the speaker.

Why would I want to join the webinar when I can go to the event on-site?

While being there in person is always better, we've had enough expressions of interest from outside the the National Capital Region that we decided a webinar should be offered.

I live in the National Capital Region. Why should I go to the on-site event instead of attending the webinar?

The on-site event has several advantages:

  • networking with the other registrants and organizers during the breaks and the one hour lunch

  • better access to the presenters

  • easier to ask questions and follow up during and after a presentation

  • avoid the temptation of multitasking while sitting at your desk, potentially missing valuable information.

  • for those who want to continue with networking opportunities we plan to get together afterwards for refreshments

Ontario Land Surveyors: This workshop webinar qualifies for 7.5 CPD formal hours
