Canadian Geodetic Survey Tools and Services for Accurate Positioning

Brian Donahue

Abstract:

The Canadian Geodetic Survey (CGS) of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is responsible for defining, maintaining, and providing access to the Canadian Spatial Reference System (CSRS).  The CSRS provides a consistent reference for mapping, navigation, boundary demarcation, and other georeferenced applications in Canada.  This presentation will describe the CSRS, how it is connected to other commonly used reference frames in Canada, and how it can be accessed using CGS tools and services.  Some recent CGS developments including a modernized CSRS-PPP service for precise positioning, updated tools for height system transformations, and the NRCan compliance program for commercial RTK services will be highlighted.
