About the workshop

This Workshop will bring you up to date on many sources of imagery available, from historical to contemporary, and explain how this imagery is being put to use.

Imagery has come a long way from early efforts with primitive cameras in primitive aeroplanes. Large format cameras, stabilization and forward motion compensation made for imagery that could be used in a wide variety of mapping applications. GPS was a huge enabler in advancing the quality and efficiency of aerial photo acquisition. The evolution of satellite imagery provided more choice and the associated economies of scale enabled previously unforeseen applications. Affordable high resolution digital imagery coupled with modern affordable sensors such as GPS and Inertial has enabled new terrestrial, airborne and satellite sourced applications using multiple image sensors.
