Geospatial Data Collected by the City of Ottawa, and How it is Disseminated

The City of Ottawa will be providing an overview on the types of Goespatial data that we collect and how it is disseminated. We will also be explaining how some of these data sets are modified to use internally or to add value before they are disseminated to Consultants working on City projects. These are just two examples of how the City uses its geospatial data for particular applications:

High resolution topography created using LiDAR is a primary data set for essentially all City projects. The need to update flood plain mapping, across the City, was a primary driver to acquiring the LiDAR data.  The presentation will address what LiDAR is, its use in the development of watercourse and catchment area mapping and the clip &ship approach for providing data for drainage projects.

Digital Mapping is another of our major products and it can be manipulated to model buildings, streets and neighbourhoods to enable visioning and visualization in the Planning process. The data can also be leveraged to assist with view plane analysis.
